Students create a plan with Mrs. P every Thursday of what they will be making each week, as well as complete the theory work that goes into baking and cooking lessons.
Term 1 students focused on learning the basics of cooking/baking as well as food prep and safety. They planned what they were going to make and were able to take their yummy food home and share some of it with the staff!
In Term 2, students chose to fundraise for the Pink Ribbon Cancer Society. They held weekly raffles where they baked a cake and sold tickets to whānau and the wider community, and also had a bake sale outside the local shops. They spent the terms prepping slices, cakes, muffins, and so many yummy goodies to sell on the day. This was an absolute hit, and our tamariki were able to raise a whopping $1,743.00, which was donated to the Pink Ribbon Cancer Society.
This term, they are selling baked goods to our students every Friday. They plan what they are making and send home purchase forms. The money made goes back into the school for ingredients and projects/trips.
Keep an eye out for what the yummy baked good of the week is!
