Every Thursday, our Year 7 and 8 students swap their regular classroom for the specialized workshops and kitchens of Forest View High School in Tokoroa. This dedicated Technology Day is a highlight of our senior curriculum, providing students with access to high-end facilities and expert instruction.
Through a rotating schedule, our students dive into a variety of hands-on subjects, including:
Food Technology: Mastering the art of cooking, nutrition, and kitchen safety in a professional environment.
Hard Materials (Woodwork & Metal): Learning to use specialized tools and techniques to design and build physical projects.
Design & Creative Tech: Developing the skills to take an idea from a concept to a finished product using a range of materials.
By utilizing the facilities at Forest View, our students gain access to equipment and expertise that allow them to produce high-quality work. This weekly experience is all about:
Developing Life Skills: Mastering everything from a basic recipe to construction mechanics.
Independence: Learning to handle tools and specialized equipment safely and confidently.
Problem-Solving: Thinking like a designer and a builder to bring their own unique projects to life.
Our Year 7 and 8s aren't just making things; they are building a foundation of practical life skills and a "can-do" attitude that will serve them long after they leave us.
